- We started 30 years ago with $350. Jan made my suit, her wedding dress, the bridesmaid dresses, and we had banana pudding instead of wedding cake. I spent the money I had on a helicopter ride flying into the ceremony. You'll never have enough money to get married, so build on a dream and go the distance. Oh... and start saving up for that dress. Now!
I asked Hit songwriter Paul Overstreet (She Thinks my Tractors Sexy, Forever and Ever Amen) if he would help me write a song about the first years of being married to this Angel. Here's a rather pleasant result:

- PENNIES NICKELS & DIMES
Christopher Harris / Paul Overstreet
That old frigerator was some agitator
It howled like a train all night long
The landlord was cold as the winters we froze
When the heater just wouldn't turn on
And that old car of mine would stall every time
We wanted to get somewhere fast
But you'd help me push it till we got it started
Then we'd ride till we ran out of gas
Pinching Pennies Nickels & Dimes
Looking back they were wonderful times
Love brought us together made our love get better
Like years can do to a good wine
When your struggling to make ends meet
Doesn't have to bring love to defeat
Just keep working on love it will all come in time
Pinch your Pennies Nickels & Dimes
We could have flown off to Paris
The day we got married
Honeymooned in Old Italy
But the money was tight
So we drove through the night
To that little hotel on the beach
But when I saw the sunrise in your beautiful eyes
It didn't matter to me where we were
That little Florida town
With my arms wrapped around you
Could have been any place on this earth
And when you have to pass up that favorite store
With a dress in the window you know she adores
Keep working on love it'll all come in time
Pinch your Pennies & Nickels & Dimes
